Here’s what he has to say about a typical day in his recruitment world.

Start of the day…

On a typical office day, I leave home in Jersey City at around 8am.  By 8.30am I’m at my desk with a fresh cup of coffee ready to start my day. I set myself up for success by planning my day in my calendar. I then catch up on my emails and respond accordingly to any candidates or clients and set up any required calls throughout the coming days.

Each morning at 9am I’ll touch base with my manager and team regarding what the day and week ahead looks like and what tasks need to be completed. We’ll also go through any projects I might be struggling with and need to chat through or get advice for, as well as any news in the ever changing world of Cloud and DevOps. As specialists, it’s crucial we keep ourselves up to date with industry news.

Getting into the job…

I usually have a call block (speak to as many people as possible) each morning to kick off the day’s activity which gets me excited for the day.  This involves reaching out to old and new candidates to touch base and build strong relationships. Building relationships is the part of my job I love the most!

It’s highly rewarding when you present someone with an opportunity they weren’t expecting, and they are receptive to it.

Throughout the week I’ll have a few client meetings to discuss new requisitions – we’ll meet so I can understand the needs of the client and the role.

It’s important to fully understand our client’s expectations, company culture, and role requirements.

All these elements need to be the right fit for the selected candidate, so we can ensure it’s a win-win situation for both parties.

In terms of filling roles, I’ll spend time emailing and calling candidates who are interested in the roles we have, and then coordinating initial interviews with the hiring managers.

Lunch time

It’s hard to escape the fantastic food options around our office in lower Manhattan! I enjoy trying new places on a regular basis.

After lunch...

Another call block after lunch keeps me on my toes.

I’ll finish the day reaching out to new potential clients and scheduling calls / meetings for the week to come.

The end of the day…

After work once a week I head out with the team to grab a bite to eat and a beer (we love a good curry dinner at Trilogy)!

Other times we’ll catch up on the basketball court for a quick pick-up game after work.

Your favorite thing about working at Trilogy International?

I really enjoy the high energy in the office – we’ll have music playing throughout the day, we keep each other motivated during our all blocks, and the office banter and Friday drinks makes Trilogy USA a great environment to work in. We work hard and we’re rewarded for what we put in through incentives such as the quarterly lunch club. What’s more, we all get on really well and gel as a team.

In terms of the actual job, the interpersonal relationships I build is the most rewarding aspect of the job.  It’s nice to catch up with candidates I have previously placed to see how they’re getting on.

Plus I enjoy the financial freedom to enjoy nice dinners, skiing in the winters, and I’m currently saving to buy a condo.
